What's the year made up of?
44 weeks, 40 of these you'll work and 4 will be holiday.
Is there time for time out?
4 weeks holiday can be booked but you'll need to check the dates out with your team leader. Christmas and Easter will be the key times to make big things happen so the team needs to be together and ready in full strength. If you work during a weekend you'll get time off during the week to sometimes study, rest and see friends.
How will the hours work?
You'll need to think of this year as a job that you're doing as an intern. It won't be like school with classes and terms and timetables, and it won't be a Mon – Fri 9-5 kinda job. Instead it'll be flexible hours with flexitime and shifts. For instance one week you might work Thursday to Monday, start early, have time off in the afternoon and work again for the evening,
How will the course be structured?
The basic structure looks something like this, but we'll follow the lead of the Holy Spirit!
For a 4 week period...
1 week Mission
A week of front line mission per 4-week month. This would include teaching in the early morning as both an equipping and a devotional focus.
1 week Reflection
A week where the primary focus is prayer and seeking God, reflection and study. Reading, gaining inspiration, creativity, worship and the Spirit's ministry should all be part of this week too.
1 week Challenge
A week of more mixed, spontaneous and challenging activities including Biblical training where possible.
1 week Preparation
A week of mission readying including personal ministry, biblical teaching and practical preparations.
What will the Bible Teaching be like?
Key features about the Bible teaching are:
= That it should deliver and produce the end goal of the Daniel Challenge - it should result in you knowing 'knows God, displays strength and takes action.'
=That it should result in the 'imprint of Christ' being on the your life
= That is should fit seamlessly into the whole atmosphere, ethos and spirit of the Daniel Challenge.
This verse is the inspiration on how the Bible teaching will shaped for the challenge year.
Luke 24:27 "And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself."
We anticipate that the 'backbone' of the year's teaching will be a Christ-centred journey through the Scriptures. This will result both in a deeper knowledge of God's word and also a deeper personal knowledge of Christ. Alongside this, other books and parts of the Bible will be taught as fitting to the Daniel Challenge with emphasis on application and relevance.
What is important is that it is not just a study of the scripture but an encounter with the person of Christ. Through knowing more about him the interns will know him more. There's a Christian song from a while ago that basically sums this up "On the pages, I've been turning / Oh, I've been meeting You in a new way.
